چکیده

Extensively investigated and mutagenized Cow Pea Mosaic Virus (CPMV) has been demonstrated in a variety of nanoassemblies. Iron Oxide (IO) has the potential to surpass limits of detection in bioimaging applications. Particularly g-Fe2O3 (maghemite) is considered as one of the most desirable materials for technological and biomedical applications due to its inherent biocompatible nature. Additionally, maghemite nanoparticles could be directed to an organ, tissue, or tumor using an external magnetic field or heated under an alternating magnetic field. Based on the unique magnetic properties of IO nanoparticles they have been extensively used in biomedical applications, such as magnetic resonance imaging, targeting drug delivery and hyperthermia therapy detoxification and cell separation.

Novel Iron Oxide Hybrid Nanoparticles and their interaction with Normal and Cancer Human Breast Epithelial Cells

A substantial understanding in the interaction of nanoparticles with normal and cancer cells in vitro will enable the capabilities of improving diagnostic and treatment methods in cancer research, such as imaging and targeted drug delivery. We first demonstrate the integration of a novel nanoparticle hybrid attained by the covalent attachment of IO (iron oxide, γ-Fe2O3) nanoclusters onto the su...

Environmentally benign synthesis of virus-templated, monodisperse, iron-platinum nanoparticles.

The use of an engineered variant of a plant virus, Cowpea mosaic virus (CPMV), as a template for directed mineralization provides an environmentally benign route to monodisperse iron-platinum nanoparticles of approximately 30 nm diameter.

Templated mineralization by charge-modified cowpea mosaic virus.

Templated mineralization of virus particles provides routes to narrowly dispersed nanoparticles that are not readily prepared by other means. The templated mineralization of metal or metal oxide on the external surface of wild-type cowpea mosaic virus (CPMV), a plant virus, is facilitated by increasing the external surface negative charge. This is achieved by the chemical modification of surfac...

Bioinspired nanoreactors for the biomineralisation of metallic-based nanoparticles for nanomedicine.

This review explores the synthesis of inorganic metallic-based nanoparticles (MBNPs) (metals, alloys, metal oxides) using biological and biologically inspired nanoreactors for precipitation/crystallisation. Such nanoparticles exhibit a range of nanoscale properties such as surface plasmon resonance (nobel metals e.g. Au), fluorescence (semiconductor quantum dots e.g. CdSe) and nanomagnetism (ma...

Virus templated metallic nanoparticles.

Plant viruses are considered as nanobuilding blocks that can be used as synthons or templates for novel materials. Cowpea mosaic virus (CPMV) particles have been shown to template the fabrication of metallic nanoparticles by an electroless deposition metallization process. Palladium ions were electrostatically bound to the virus capsid and, when reduced, acted as nucleation sites for the subseq...
